New On The Block: Mereba

Mereba has one satiny serene voice that will turn your Monday into a tranquil Sunday afternoon.

Marian Mereba, better known by her stage name Mereba is an American singer, songwriter and producer making moves.

Raised in Philadelphia, she grew an interest in music from the age of four with influences spanning from her own Ethiopian heritage to big name influences like Steve Wonder, Lauryn Hill and Joni Mitchell.

Developing her artistry through her own experiences and penning these moments into her own authentic music style.

Starting as a singer, Mereba eventually learned to play piano then guitar.

In the early 2000s while completing her studies at Spelman College in Atlanta, Mereba began writing songs for other artists.

In 2013, she self-released her debut EP, ‘Room For Living’ which was set to be followed up with EP, ‘Radio Flyer’ in 2014 but never came to fruition.

However, two singles from the EP, ‘September’ and ‘Radio Flyer’ later appeared on her 2017 EP, ‘Kotton House, Vol. 1’.

Making her way through the music ranks, Mereba has collaborated with Atlanta hip-hop collective Spillage Village and eminent members, EARTHGANG, J.I.D. and 6LACK on various projects.

It wasn’t long before she was then signed to Interscope Records, after dropping a few singles early into the following year, she released her debut album ‘The Jungle Is The Only Way Out’.
