Hailing from the small Aboriginal community of Woorabinda comes a 20-year-old with a voice and lyrical mastery ready to be heard.
Following a memorable performance at BigSound, Miiesha (pronounced My-ee-sha) is one proud Pitjantjatjara/Torres Strait Islander woman with a readiness to share her story with the world’s stage.
Inspired by the sounds of RnB, gospel and soul combined with elements of spoken word poetry, Miiesha’s music is about bringing us together to educate and inspire.
Always immersed in music, Miiesha performed for her family and community from the age of 8, and further developed her song writing prowess throughout her teenage years.
Gifted with a voice showcasing handfuls of vulnerability and strength as she sings of her people and community with the voice of not just a musician but a leader.
Not completely new to the Australian music scene, Miiesha has nabbed an August Feature Artist on Triple J Unearthed and toured alongside Baker Boy, Briggs, Adrian Eagle and Thelma Plum.
‘Drowning’ is one powerful tune with the accompanying video was filmed in Woorabinda.
Let the wise words of Miiesha sink in while listening to ‘Black Privilege’.
