All You Need To Know: WAM Awards & WAMCon 2019

It’s time to spruce up your suits and dresses, the prestigious West Australian Music (WAM) Awards are back again this month in all its glory.

The respected WAM Awards 2019 will be held at the Hyatt Regency Perth on October 31 with a number of stellar nominations already lined up.

Leading the nominations for this year’s awards for the second year in a row is Albany singer-songwriter, Carla Geneve for her ‘down-to-earth’ lyrical craft earning her a whopping eight nominations.

Following closely behind is R&B soul artist Jamilla (Emily Branson) with six nominations.

Demon Days, Sly Withers and Stella Donnelly all follow with four well-earned award nominations.

But there’s a bit of a twist this year with the special debut of the Artist of the Year award to be decided on the night by a select panel of judges.

WAM CEO Mike Harris says the new award is important in continuing to recognise the work of artists and the origins of WAM being artist and music driven.

“This year WAM will present a best of the best award from the genre winners of the WA Artist of the Year,” he said.

If you’re looking to advance and expand your music career why not also attend WA’s premier music industry event, WAMCon.

The State Theatre Centre of WA will be housing this two-day learn-fest on November 1st – 2nd, aimed at assisting local artists and industry professionals of all levels to progress their music careers.

This year’s WAMCon draws attention to diversity, accessibility and sustainability practices through panels, presentations and individual networking opportunities.
