New On The Block: Baby Rose

Honing her craft since the age of 12, Rose emerged into the scene in 2018 when she began recording a collection of songs during a rough breakup.

Close your eyes and open your hearts to hear a voice like you’ve never heard before, which is so refreshing in the current age of music.

A husky yet supremely emotive voice just hauntingly lingers, taking you back to the classics of the 50s and 60s.

Once bullied in school for her voice, Rose’s vocal texture and rich melodic style transcends an early R&B and soul nostalgia similar to tones of Donnie Hathaway and Nina Simone.

Rose’s adoration for music prospered from her parents love of Southern hip hop, from singing and dancing to Outkast during her childhood, to singing hymns around the house with her great aunt.

Growing up in Washington DC and Fayetteville, Rose relocated to Atlanta to grow her music career to new heights and it wasn’t long until she cemented her name as one of the Atlanta’s most exciting upcoming indie artists.

In early 2019, Rose received an invitation to J. Cole’s Dreamville ‘ROTD III’ writing session and has already amassed support from Kehlani, J. Cole and Sza.

Just recently she toured the U.S. as support for Ari Lennox on the Shea Butter Baby Tour and very soon will be supporting Snoh Aalegra on her U.S. tour starting November 24.

Here are my top 3 picks to keep your playlist poppin’ heading into the festive season.
