If you want a truly immersive, alternative music experience like never before we recommend you get your ears plugged into the sounds of Kilo Kish.
Lakisha Kimberley Robinson, better known as Kilo Kish, is an American rapper, singer-songwriter and visual artist.
Growing up, Kish was an independent creative spirit always immersed in new art projects, books and various activities.
It wasn’t long before she fell in love with 90’s pop culture, she spent much of her time watching copious music videos on MTV to listening to top 40 music on the radio.
Kish began pursuing a career in music at age 18 when her roommates Smash Simmons and Mell McCloud set up an in-home studio and started the project, Kool Kats Klub.
While studying textiles at the Pratt Institute in New York, she started seeing her fellow music peers blow up, from Matt Martians joining Odd Future and many others in the A$AP Mob, from this she started seeing a future in music possible.
While studying, Kilo had been pumping out a catalogue of authentic tunes already being acknowledged by the New York Times, The New Yorker, Time Magazine, Vogue, W, FADER and The Village Voice.
Kish’s debut EP, ‘Homeschool’ was released back in 2012 and was labelled as one of the best albums of 2012 by Complex.
In 2013, she dropped the mixtape ‘K+’ which featured an epic line up of collaborators including Childish Gambino, Star Slinger, SBTRKT, A$AP Ferg, Earl Sweatshirt and Matt Martians.
Being the creative she is, Kish released ‘K+ THE BOOK’, a behind-the-scenes art magazine as an extension to the mixtape.
You may be familiar with the tune, ‘Taking Responsibility’ featured in the third episode of HBO teen drama TV series, ‘Euphoria’.
In 2016, Kish dropped her first studio album, ‘Reflections in Real Time’ under her own record label, Kisha Soundscape + Audi (KSA). The album is an honest and deeply personal journal into her motivations, fears and desires.
Always making pushing forward and making progress, Kish dropped ‘REDUX’ this year.
‘REDUX’ marks Kish’s fourth collaboration with producer, Ray Brady and was created as a way to revisit the core reasons of why she creates.
“I want to make people feel powerful, make a difference, and make things for art.
“This project is an ode to keep going, to keeping the flame lit,” Kish said.
It’s strongly recommended you add these Kilo tunes to your playlist right now.
