New On The Block: Nea

After writing for the likes of Zara Larsson, Tinie Tempah and Axwell get ready to make some space on your playlist for Nea’s debut single, ‘Some Say’.

Swedish artist and ground-breaking songwriter, Nea’s new single, ‘Some Say’ is already gaining some serious momentum.

The single is currently having remarkable success reaching number one on several Radio Airplay and Shazam charts across Europe, including over 100 million streams.

Nea is one this year’s most promising breakthrough artists, ‘Some Say’ has reached top 14 on the European Radio Chart and Top 26 on Shazam’s Global Chart.

The single marks a bold debut from Nea, stemming from exploring the depths of human desire and perseverance in the face of unrequited love.

This is a deeply personal narrative for Nea.

“The song is about love that you can’t attain but that you can’t give up on,” she said.

The accompanying music video was directed by Argentinian director, Leo Adeef and edited by Pau Lauzon.

“We wanted to make the video as real as possible, so we cast real couples instead of actors.

“I think it shines through in the video that their love is honest and that their stories and struggle to get to that love is real,” Nea said.

Born in South Africa, Nea’s parents moved Nea and her siblings to combat the apartheid system of the time, which is where she began to develop her fighting spirit.

Over the years, she has made major waves as an in-demand songwriter, writing for Zara Larsson’s international multi-platinum tune, ‘Lush Life’ and has also written for the likes of Tinie Tempah, Tove Styrke and Axwell, to name a few.

Continuously growing, Nea’s songwriting catalogue has generated over a billion streams.

And you thought that was it.

Giving back is also something Nea holds close to her heart, particularly giving to philanthropy organisations like Star of Life in South Africa (spreads HIV awareness in schools through music) and Nvak, which provides youth music education in developing countries.
