New On The Block: Inglewood SiR

If you haven’t heard of Inglewood SiR by now then you are seriously missing out.

Sir Daryl Farris is a singer, songwriter and record producer fresh out of Inglewood, California and is signed to Kendrick Lamar’s coveted Top Dawg Entertainment.

Working his way up from retail to collaborating with none other than Stevie Wonder, music has always been embedded throughout Farris’ life.

Growing up in a musical family, his mother, brother and cousins were all gospel singers which allowed him to stabilise his musical roots in the gospel narrative.

Farris’ nabbed a recording arts degree at the LA Film School where he developed his aptitude for songwriting, arranging and production skills.

Working hard over a number of years, Farris eventually scored a break working for Tyrese Gibbons and it was from there he started to establish key connections and learned to really master his songwriting craft.

His climb in the industry has progressed from studio engineer to songwriter, working for big industry names such as Jill Scott, Genuine and of course, Stevie Wonder.

As one of the hardest working names in the Top Dawg Entertainment family, since joining the family he released his debut album, ‘November’ back in 2018.

The following year, Farris announced his second album through Top Dawg and gave his listeners the first single, ‘Hair Down’ featuring Kendrick Lamar.

‘Chasing Summer’ dropped in August 2019 and featured a sizzlin’ line-up of guest features from Kendrick Lamar, Lil Wayne, Jill Scott, Smino, Kadhja Bonet, Sabrina Claudio and Zacari.
