Australian-born South African artist, Shenae Masters’, better known as MADAM3EMPRESS, bold pursuit to be loud and unapologetic about her truth is what makes her so addictive to listen to.

Recently supporting Winston Surfshirt in their sold-out Sydney show, MADAM3EMPRESS is now making some major moves with her sophomore single, ‘Locking Eyes’.

‘Locking Eyes’ is the follow up tune from her debut release, ‘Come On Over’ which was penned as an ode to women unafraid to speak their truth and celebrate their sexuality.

This single however is much more intimate, delving into that energy felt between two people when they lock eyes across the room.

“This locking of eyes and the energy you feel can be overwhelming and even scary at times.

“You can fight it, and you may deny it but that energy is there, ‘Locking Eyes’ is such a powerful and underrated moment between people,” she said.

The tunes mellow yet rather tropical production was engineered by one of Sydney’s most stirring production duo’s, Korky Buchek and multiple ARIA nominated producer, IAMMXO.

So you can be guaranteed this was going to be a top notch tune.

Growing up MADAM3EMPRESS often lived between Australia and her parents hometown in South Africa but it was music that was her cultural anchor between these transitions.

Her unconditional love for music is what really assisted her in navigating her identity, femininity, drive, passion and purpose.

With deep roots in Gospel and Cape-Townian jazz plus her undeniable love for neo-soul, R&B and hip hop have all been solid drivers behind her ‘impossible to box’ sound, signature lyrics and strong vocal delivery.
