Even though there’s still a whole lot of uncertainty surrounding what we can expect this year, on the other side ya gal is certain Joyce Wrice will be making mega waves this year.
Without a major label behind her, LA-based indie artist Joyce Wrice is already paving her own lane by crafting and sharing a mesmerising R&B sound that is already attracting the attention of many around the world.
Born to a Japanese mother and African-American father, growing up Wrice played an abundance of Mariah Carey, Luther Vandross, Usher, Missy Elliot and Jermaine Dupri on her stereo and it wasn’t long before she began singing R&B classics in high school with her friends and sharing them on to a growing fanbase on YouTube.
Overtime it was these videos that captured the attention of rappers, Dom Kennedy and Pac Div. who invited her to start recording for them and it was from there that she began crafting her own music and working her way up the industry ladder.
Just last Thursday, Wrice dropped her classic old school R&B nostalgic video for her fresh jam, ‘On One’ alongside Freddie Gibbs.
From the moment you press play on the video you’ll see why Wrice has it all wiht her silky smooth moves amongst an abundance of delicious LA summertime vibes, it’s clear this gal was born to be in front of the camera.
What’s even more exciting is that this is only just a taste for her upcoming debut studio album, ‘Overgrown’ which boasts features from some pretty big names such as Lucky Days, Masego, Kaytranada and Westside Gunn.
